Neutral Salt Spray Testing in Thane

The salt spray test (or salt fog test) is a widely used corrosion test method for determining the corrosion resistance of materials and surface coatings. Typically, the materials to be tested are metallic (but stone, ceramics, and polymers may also be examined) and completed with a surface coating designed to offer corrosion protection to the underlying metal.

Salt spray testing is an accelerated corrosion test that causes a corrosive assault on coated samples in order to assess (mainly comparatively) the coating’s fitness for usage as a protective finish. After a predetermined amount of time, the appearance of corrosion products (rust or other oxides) is examined.

The duration of the test is determined by the coating’s corrosion resistance; usually, the more corrosion resistant the coating, the longer the time of testing before the emergence of corrosion or rust. Neutral Salt Spray Testing in Thane

Salt spray testing is popular because it is very cheap, rapid, uniform, and repeatable. Although there is a poor association between the length of a salt spray test and the projected life of a coating in some coatings, such as hot-dip galvanised steel, this test has acquired widespread popularity due to its low cost and speedy findings. Most Salt Spray Chambers today are used to maintain coating operations such as pre-treatment and painting, electroplating, galvanising, and the like on a comparative basis, rather than to anticipate corrosion resistance of a coating. Pre-treated + painted components, for example, must pass 96 hours of Neutral Salt Spray before being allowed for manufacturing.
